Lee So Jung was a finalist and finished Top 8 on the talent show called The Voice of Korea. . She caught the attention of the audience with her husky and emotionally enriched voice. She managed to get all of the four judges, Shin Seung Hoon, Gil, Baek Ji Young and Kangta, to turn around. Her performance left the judges speechless as she sang like a pro singer.

The Voice of Korea is a South Korean reality singing competition and local version of The Voice. Its first season was held in February 10, 2012 on Mnet. The winner of the first season was Son Seung-yeon, who was  mentored by Shin Seung-hun. So-Jung was part of Season One and was also mentored by Shin Seung-hun. Judge, Shin Seung Hun did not hold back on compliments and freely expressed, " I believed Lee So Jung could sing any song in her own, unique style.  She did very well and did not disappoint."
She impressed the coaches and viewers alike with her rendition of Wonder Girls’ 2 Different Tears.  So-Jung proved she could handle the five member girl group’s song on her own, filling the stage with her huge voice for the live broadcast of the show on April 13, 2012.

She put a sultry spin on the poppy song with her charismatic husky voice, drawing praise from coaches Baek Ji Young and Gil.

A rep from Polaris Entertainment told Enews on February 20, 2013 that Lee So Jung, who drew attention with her vocals and cute looks on the Mnet audition program The Voice of Korea will debut as a girl group Ladies' Code member with Kwon Ri Sae, from MBC‘s “Star Audition.” After becoming a final contestant on “Star Audition” Kwon Ri-Sae recently moved from Key East Entertainment to Polaris Entertainment. The new girl group would debut in March 2013.

 Lee So Jung first became known when she joined The Voice of Korea. Polaris Entertainment also released with the announcement a recent photo of Lee So Jung. She was shown with dyed hair, giving off charismatic vibes through her thick eye makeup and slimmer figure.

The rep added, "You′ll soon be able to see a mature Lee So Jung. She′ll be approaching her fans with charms different from those she showed at her audition."The agency made the official announcement on Twitter and Facebook and revealed that ‘Ladies Code’ is said to signify, “A group that incorporates the wannabe code of ladies to put on dramatic stage performances.”
