K-Pop stars Ladies Code were involved in a car accident on Wednesday morning (September 3) that killed singer EunB, 21 dead. The van carrying her group Ladies' Code crashed into a guard rail on a rain-drenched highway near Seoul, police said Thursday.

It was reported that the South Korean group’s label, Polaris Entertainment, released a statement on the incident.
“After a schedule in Daegu on September 2, LADIES′ CODE was headed back to Seoul,” read the statement. “Around 1:30 AM in Suwon, an issue occured with the car′s back wheel coming off. With the rainy road and wheel coming off, the vehicle spun several times, hitting a guardrail.” “Due to this, Eun Bi unfortunately passed away.

The band, which debuted last year, was returning to Seoul after recording a TV program in the southeastern city of Daegu, said police inspector Lee Ho-dong.

A photo of EunB’s favorite plush toy being found at the scene of the accident that caused her death has gone viral. The plush toy was found after a netizen visited the accident scene. It was given to EunB by her fans. The banana plush toy has been in numerous photos with EunB. It is reported that she often slept with it whenever she felt lonely and was unable to see her friends and family

The group's agency said another band member fractured a bone and two others had minor injuries and were treated for shock. The driver, who was treated for a minor injury before questioning, may have been speeding on a wet road to meet a tight schedule, Lee said. "We are investigating the exact cause of the accident. But it's difficult because the highway section where the crash occurred did not have a closed-circuit television camera," Lee said, adding that a camera from inside the van was sent to the National Forensic Service.

New reports have emerged that Sojung was aware of EunB’s death and RiSe’s unconscious condition before her surgery. It was previously reported that Polaris Entertainment decided against telling Sojung about the tragic news, to preserve her well-being for the surgery. She has now received an operation for her fractured skull. She was made aware of the news after she was in a stable enough condition to use her phone. She learned about EunB’s death and RiSe’s condition through the news.
Polaris said that she was in great shock at first, but is slowly coming to terms with the news.
RiSe remains to be unconscious for almost four days now.

Doctors said they were unsure whether RiSe would survive. RiSe’s condition is currently being closely watched, after she was released from a nine hour surgery. She has had a total of four surgeries and has not waken up after four days.

Lee said it would likely take about a month before it's determined what caused the crash.
